Running track and field at high school

Pupils from various primary schools in the surrounding Randburg area had an exciting day of sporting activities on the field of Roosevelt High School. It was a monumental sight to behold as seven primary schools competed with one another at their respective inter primary athletics.

The schools that were involved in the event were Laerskool Jim Fouché, Laerskool Generaal Christiaan De Wet, Buccleuch Primary School, Laerskool Piet van Vuuren, Melpark Primary School, Laerskool Claremont, and Laerskool Esperanza. Most of these primary schools lack large sporting facilities to host their inter primary athletics.

Roosevelt High School was proud of the fact that they could host these various primary schools on their expansive sporting grounds. It was the first time that the school has hosted an event of such a large scale.

Principal of Roosevelt High Willie de Wet was beaming with pride and was very pleased with the school’s stellar organisation. De Wet pointed out that the event served as a wonderful opportunity for the school to showcase its facilities to potential pupils from the participating primary schools. “We are more than happy to assist the community. We have more than enough facilities to effectively host an event of this scale, while still being able to run our own operations as well,” he said. De Wet maintained that it is the intention of Roosevelt High to not only showcase their academic capabilities, but to promote their sporting facilities and achievements as well.

Principle at Melpark Primary Naledi Padayachee was very impressed with Roosevelt High’s organisation of the event. “It was professionally organised. I am very impressed with Roosevelt High’s capabilities and generous gesture of hosting their grounds for the event.” Padayachee believes that exposure to a high school setting left a great impression with the primary school pupils participating at the event.
