A fond farewell

VICTORY PARK – De La Salle Holy Cross College bids farewell to their Chairman of the Board.

De La Salle Holy Cross College bade their long-standing Chairman of the Board of Governors a fond farewell at a cocktail party, following a Holy Mass at St Charles Church on 10 July.

Brendan O’Connor has served as Chairman of the Board for over 30 years, and eventually convinced the board to accept his retirement.

O’Connor and his wife have had both their sons go through the school, and three grandchildren, two of whom are still at the school.

Isabel Hancock, newly elected Chairperson of the Board, gave a heart-felt speech, thanking O’Connor for his many years of service, and ended with a quote from The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel – “There’s no such thing as an ending; just a place where you leave the story.”

The De La Salle Pipe Band gave a rousing performance, which was followed by the Junior School Choir, the Chickadees, who sang to the O’Connor’s.
