Skeleton found in Soweto suspected to be remains of missing UJ student

AUCKLAND PARK– Remains have been taken to the forensics department for DNA tests.

Human remains were found in Soweto on 17 December and are suspected to be that of a missing UJ student.

University of Johannesburg student Palesa Madiba from Diepkloof went missing three years ago after spending a weekend at a friends place. The remains were found in the backyard with bricks on top of the skeleton at the house she was last seen in Phiri.

The remains have been taken to the forensics department for DNA tests and no arrests have been made yet as they are not sure that the skeleton belongs to Madiba.
