Darrenwood shop owner shot

DARRENWOOD– Shop owner chases after suspects after being shot in the face.

A well-known man, and owner of the Traditional Fish and Chips shop in Darrenwood, was shot in the face after an attempted robbery at about 7pm on 5 March.

Linden Police’s Captain Alex Vermaak explained that despite this, the man chased after the two suspects who were on a motorcycle, until Linden Police took over the case.

The motorcycle lost control on Tana Road and one suspect managed to get away on foot, while the other was seized and arrested by the police. He was injured when the motorcycle fell.

“The suspect is in hospital under police supervision and the shop owner is also in hospital recovering,” said Capt Vermaak.

He added that police retrieved an unlicensed firearm and the suspects did not manage to get away with anything from the shop. The arrested suspect is a 22-year-old man from Rosettenville and the police are still on the chase for the second suspect.
