WATCH: Safety skills for youngsters
FAIRLAND - Baddies and Buddies show sponsored by ADT learn pupils safety skills while entertaining them.
No matter how young, any child can, and needs to, learn safety skills to keep, not only themselves safe, but people around them as well.
Darin McDowall, a well known Johannesburg entertainer hosted the Baddies and Buddies show at the Wonderland Pre-Primary School in Fairland on 29 April. McDowall explained that the show is sponsored by ADT Security Services. “I am not a security guard, but I am an entertainer. It has to be fun for the children to learn,” said McDowall.
Excited pre-primary school pupils gathered with their teachers to watch the show, intrigued by “Mr ADT” in his security uniform. He used jokes and fun props to explain the importance of being safe when in the street, when approached by strangers, when encountering a fire and other dangers. The children laughed and yelled out answers, while learning many new skills.
McDowall showed the children how to remember the police’s emergency number in case they might need it and also told them to encourage their parents to install a panic button in their homes. McDowall’s puppet puppy, Pongo also paid a visit.
McDowall said that school’s from all over Johannesburg can contact him to teach more pupils very important safety skills, tips and offer a laugh or two.
