A blood drive to welcome spring
NORTHCLIFF – Abbotts College Northcliff hosts a successful Spring Blood Drive.
Abbotts College Northcliff recently hosted a Spring Blood Drive.
SANBS came to their campus to conduct the successful blood donation event.
The staff along with the Grade 10, 11 and 12 pupils welcomed the organisation as they prepared for the event.
“The atmosphere in the hall was almost festive while the the blood bags were filled one after the other, in the end, 55 units were donated in just under four hours,” said the school’s principal, JC Engelbrecht.
First-time donors proved that they were not squeamish to the task and to mark their first donation, they received a ‘No chicken’ certificate.
Engelbrecht, a donor of more than 30 units himself, was full of praise for the pupils and the SANBS. The effective and organised manner in which the SANBS dealt with the students further contributed to the success of the Spring Blood Drive at Abbotts College.
SANBS aims to have five days stock of Group O blood to minimise possibilities of shortages and stock outs and this can only be achieved by donors donating on a regular basis. The organisation has 84 fixed donor centres and hosts in excess of 3000 mobile blood drives per year in eight provinces.
