Various parts of the Johannesburg CBD are without water, due to a burst pipe.
Tidimalo Chuene of Johannesburg Water has explained that their technicians are attending to the burst pipe and restoration will be between 6pm and 9pm tonight.
She added that water tanks have been placed at Africa Museum, Ghandi Square and Clinix in Selby Park.
Chuene also highlighted that there is a planned water interruption that will affect Diepsloot residents on 25 October between midnight and 8pm.
Water tanks will be placed at clinics, school reception areas and the shopping centre in Diepsloot.
Residents are reminded that Level 2 water restrictions are still in place and must be adhered to.
Consumers are forthwith compelled:
- Not to water and irrigate their gardens from 6am to 6pm every day;
- Only hand-held hosepipes or bucket/watering cans are allowed outside these hours.
Note that this is an additional requirement:
c) Not to fill their swimming pools with municipal water; and
d) Not to use hosepipes to wash their cars, paved areas, etc.
Water saving tips:
- Don’t leave taps dripping
- Take shallow baths
- Use bathwater or grey water to water the garden.
Residents are urged to remain active partners in reducing the amount of water used in the City of Johannesburg, and to report any form of vandalism and theft of water infrastructure to 0800 00 25 87.
