7 suspects bust for robbery

AUCKLAND PARK – Brixton Police arrested seven suspects after they robbed a student.

Brixton police arrested seven suspects after a University of Johannesburg student was robbed.

The robbery took place on 27 October when two suspects took the victim’s cellphone and other belongings.

Brixton police spokesperson, Jeanette Backhoff said a security guard at the university saw what had happened and assisted the victim. “He chased after the suspects after they got into a white Quantum and drove off.”

Backhoff explained that the police were then called for assistance and the Quantum was pulled off and seven suspects were arrested. “These suspects can allegedly be linked to other street robberies that have occurred in and around the Brixton policing area.”

Backhoff requested that if members of the public were robbed and a white Quantum was involved, to report it immediately. “We ask that anyone who was robbed and a white Quantum was involved and it was never reported, to do so at their nearest police station so that the suspects can be linked to similar crimes.”
