Youngsters at King David High School Victory Park take interest in not just representing their schoolmates, but youth all over Johannesburg.
Kira Fisher and Jenna Kaufman from King David made it into the Johannesburg Junior Council for next year.
The council was established in 1928 and was associated with the Johannesburg City Council but is now a registered non-governmental organisation.
The organisation is completely self-sufficient and is run by Johannesburg’s youth.
The council’s objectives are to represent Johannesburg youth accurately and fairly, to take action in civic and community affairs, create awareness for those less privileged; develop high school youth leadership and to promote cooperation between school leaders and communities.
King David is one of 38 participating schools who make up the 76 councillors in the council.
