A grandparent a day keeps the doctor away
NORTHCLIFF – Opti-Baby Nursery School celebrates Grandparents Day as a family.
Opti-Baby honoured grandparents in a special way when it hosted its annual Grandparents Day.
The special occasion was attended by the children’s grandparents who travelled far and wide to spend the day with their grandchildren. Opti-Baby Northcliff manager, Marita Louw said this was the first time they decided to combine Grandparents Day with the Santa gift handout.

“Grandparents came from as far as Cape Town and Durban to spend the morning with their grandchildren. The little ones sang a song to welcome their grandparents and then a big surprise followed. Santa came and handed out gifts to all the children and they had the time to take photographs with him while informing him of their Christmas lists,” said Louw.

She added the grandparents had a picnic and each child made a special gift for their grandparents. The children created a bookmark with a photo and picture drawn by the child. They were able to socialise with other grandparents over cups of tea and coffee. The team from Happy Events spoiled the children with balloon sculptures, sweets and face painting.

“We seldom have so much wisdom at our school. It’s wonderful to spend a morning with grandparents, to hear their life stories and see them interact with their grandchildren. Our school’s grandparents are still very young at heart and didn’t think twice to tell Santa of their own Christmas wishlists,” said Louw.

She would like to thank all the grandparents who took the time to spend a morning with their grandchildren at the school. Everyone holds a special place in the school’s hearts.
