Theft suspects open fire amidst chase by Northcliff security officers

FAIRLAND – Gunshots were heard in Northcliff after suspects opened fire on security guards after a burglary.

Gunshots were heard in Northcliff after suspects opened fire on security guards after a burglary on 14 April.

According to Fairland police spokesperson, Constable Moloko Kgatla, the local security company, Beagle Watch was alerted to a house where a generator was stolen.

After being alerted to the security company’s presence, the suspects jumped back into their getaway vehicle and headed towards 14th Avenue.

Beagle Watch gave chase, following the suspects close to the El Corro Shopping Centre.

The suspects – knowing they were being chased – stopped their vehicle and opened fire on the security guards. The guards fired back and the suspects sped off, escaping with a stolen generator.

A case of theft has been opened with the Fairland Police Station. Kgatla and the Fairland police are appealing to the public to come forward with any information they may have about the event.
