World Cup fever hits Delta Park School

BLAIRGOWRIE – The World Cup vibe heats up at Delta Park School

Delta Park School was one of the lucky ones chosen to participate in the Gauteng Active Education (GAE) World Cup challenge.

Representing Croatia, the Grade 1 children competed in a soccer skills challenge and each completed exercise which earned their school points. There are 32 other schools taking part in the challenge throughout the province and the school with the most points will be rewarded.

Coach Bongani Khanyile said the challenge to engage the younger children in the Soccer World Cup. “We always focus on the older children but now we are focusing on Grade 1 children.

“We had five different exercises that our coaches conduct and different schools. Skill one was dribbling, then skipping, then under and over, running then catching and passing. These [help with] motor skills and hand-eye coordination.”
