Hoërskool Linden scooped up awards at the the 10th World Choir Games between 4 and 14 July in Tshwane.
It was the first time this prestigious international event – often referred to as the Olympic Games for choirs – was hosted on African soil.
And Linden Choir from Hoërskool Linden was honoured to participate.

The choir has 117 members and was ready to face the challenge to compete in three categories – Musica Sacra, Music of Spirit and Faith, and Mixed Youth Choirs.
The choir achieved beyond expectations with a gold award in the Musica Sacra competition and two silver awards, one each for the categories Music of Spirit and Faith and Mixed Youth Choirs.
“Following our successful participation in our firs-ever World Choir Games, Linden Choir has now shifted its focus to celebrating its 25th anniversary with a special Celebration Concert in September this year,” said conductor and choirmaster, Duncan Fourie.
“We are looking forward to inviting some of our alumni members back on stage with us for a feast of Linden Choir’s most-loved music,” he added.

To top it all off, Linden Choir was also invited to perform during the closing ceremony of the 10th World Games in the Sun Arena in Pretoria.
For the closing ceremony, the choir had to study a further 10 pieces of music. The closing ceremony was broadcast to international audiences.
