WATCH: Fairland police arrest suspected cell phone tower battery thief

FAIRLAND – Not the type of charge that this suspected battery thief was expecting.

Police have busted a wanted suspect while he was attempting to steal cell phone tower batteries.

Fairland police apprehended the suspected criminal in the act while he was allegedly attempting to stealing the cell phone tower batteries in Northcliff on 27 November 2018.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect was stealing these batteries to sell them to people in neighbouring provinces and countries.

The suspect was also reluctant to give his details but the police were able to identify him due to his past crimes.

De Freitas and the station have saluted Constables Lucky Mathye and Senzo Phakathi for making the arrests.
