Introducing the award-winning Andre Stolz Productions

MELVILLE – Andre Stolz Productions brings a new way to learn and understand the set works of school books.

A theatre production team literally brings Afrikaans set works to life.

Andre Stolz Productions is becoming the home of quality school theatre productions. This is due to the fact that since 2009 the team, under the leadership of Melville resident Andre Stolz, have been travelling the country to give matric learners full length performances of Grade 12 literature set works. Books such as Mis, Krismis van Map Jacobs, My Japan and Onderwêreld have all been brought to life and immortalised in the minds of the learners.

Stolz said, “We started with Mis [written by the acclaimed author Reza de Wet], an Afrikaans drama set work for Grade 12 learners. Since then, we toured through seven out of the nine provinces, visited hundreds of schools and performed to thousands of learners.”

As of 2018, 6 187 learners from 94 schools had attended their performance of Mis. In addition to these great numbers, the team also scooped a Naledi Theatre Award for the production. It won the category for the Best Youth Production in 2016, which was their first award. They won the award yet again in 2017 and this time their production of Onderwêreld walked away as the winner.

Stolz is extremely happy with the team he is working with. Many of the actors and technical crew reside in Westdene, Brixton, Northcliff and other surrounding areas. He stated that without this amazing crew he wouldn’t be able to give the five-star performances that they give nor win the awards that they have earned. The crew still have a busy year ahead of them as they plan to continue touring and fulfilling their theatre commitments. They will be taking their productions of Mis, Onderwêreld and My Japan on a seven province production tour.
