Keep your panic button handy
FAIRLAND – Suspects forced entry into a home on 29 August and got away with personal valuables and appliances from the house.
Police were called to a house robbery scene at 9th Avenue in Fairland around 10.30am on 29 August, after suspects gained entry by forcing their way through the gate and then the front door.
A spokesperson for the Fairland Police Station, Constable Michael Kgatla said, “Two males gained entry into the house via the sliding rail gate and then forced their way into the front door. They found one lady in the house and managed to steal her wedding ring, her wallet, the television, and other household appliances.”
The woman in the house searched for, but could not find her panic button, and the suspects got away. Kgatla continued, “The suspects drove away in a white SUV with unknown vehicle registration. I urge all house owners to keep their panic buttons in a place where they are able to access it when in an emergency because if the panic button was pressed sooner, the security company and police could have been notified sooner.
“A case docket was opened for a house robbery and the suspects have not been apprehended as yet.”
