Parkview police arrest man for domestic violence

EMMARENTIA – The suspect appeared in Hillbrow Magistrates' Court on 23 September.

A 32-year-old man was recently arrested for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in an apparent domestic dispute.

According to Captain Tintswalo Sibeko of Parkview Police Station, the incident took place on 22 September at a residence on Louw Geldenhuys Drive in Emmarentia. “The complainant alleged that she was with her boyfriend in their room when the suspect asked the victim why she cooked chicken instead of meat,” she said.
Sibeko added that the suspect allegedly started assaulting the victim using his fists and a golf club. “The victim sustained injuries and a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm was reported on 21 September and the suspect was traced and arrested.”

The suspect appeared in Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court on 23 September.
Sibeko concluded that gender-based violence was a priority of the police.
