System challenges in some Northcliff wards on election day

NORTHCLIFF – With all that being said, it's all systems go in most wards. Some wards, have experienced delays due to system issues.

With temperatures reaching close to 28 degrees Celsius, the sun, like our community’s voters, has come out in all its glory!

It’s probably advisable to get out to the voting site with an umbrella, water bottle and in some cases a camping chair if necessary.

With all that being said, it’s all systems go in most wards. Some wards, have experienced delays due to system issues. According to councillor candidate Chantelle Fourie-Shawe, some residents have found that they have suddenly been moved to a different voting station to the one they usually vote at. Others, who registered during registration weekend, have found that they have not made it on to the voter’s roll.

“This is a handful of people though, not many at all,” said Fourie-Shawe.

Voting stations will remain open until 9pm, and voters must take their ID document with them. It has also been advised that voters take their own pens, although pens are provided in need. Voters, must also be wearing a mask or other face covering, and those who do not comply, will be sent away without casting a vote.
