It’s all happening on 7th Street Melville

Non-profit organisation, The Happening is hosting an event that will sure bring Melville alive through awesome art.

The Happening, a non-profit company, aims to showcase a new and different way of doing events. Held in Melville, on March 2, they will host an event that is sure to creatively inspire all those who attend.

Inspired by the AfrikaBurn/Burning Man ethos and principles, they aim to bring people together to create magical experiences, free from corporate influence and sponsorship.

They believe that communities can come together and create magic through participation in creative endeavours. The AfrikaBurn community in Gauteng is described as one that has grown over the years and is ready to contribute to this inner-city event.

The event is from 10:00 to 18:00 and includes a vast array of artists showing casing their work, there will be an awesome parade set to start at 12:00 with The Great Hobby Horse Derby.

To accommodate for this grand event roads will be closed in Melville:

7th Street will be closed to traffic from 1st to 5th Avenues. There will be traffic marshalls at the corners of 2nd, 3rd and 4h Avenues where they meet 5th, 6th and 8th Streets respectively, directing traffic away from these avenues, while allowing access for residents living in closed streets.

Parking is available at 27 Boxes, as well as Melville Kruisgemeente Church. Organisers encourage attendees to use e-hailing for the event.
