Young stars shine at Primary School hockey series
The Annual Primary School Hockey Series 2024 showcased exceptional talent and sportsmanship as young athletes competed for glory.
The annual Primary School Hockey Series this year was a resounding success, bringing together young athletes from various schools for a day filled with skill, sportsmanship, and excitement.

Monique Basson, head of hockey at Northcliff High School, stated that they hosted the series with great enthusiasm, and it continued to strengthen the ties between our organisation and the primary schools in the community.

“This year, we were delighted to welcome a diverse group of schools that showcased their talent on the field, including, Laerskool Fairland, Laerskool Unika, Randpark Primary, Cliffview Primary, Curro Aurora, Parkview Primary, Midvaal Group, and Northcliff Primary.”
The tournament culminated in an exhilarating display of hockey, with Laerskool Fairland Girls, Midvaal Boys, and Randpark Primary Boys emerging as the ultimate trophy winners of the series.

Their hard work and determination throughout the tournament was commendable, and they certainly earned their accolades.
In addition to the team awards, several outstanding individuals were recognised for their remarkable performances throughout the series:

Best goalkeeper:
• Girl – Ilana Smit
• Boy – Christian Laver
Most promising player:
• Girl – Unako Mfabe
• Boy – Jayden Jaravani
Best defender:
• Girl – Lyra Nicolas
• Boy – Katleho Tabane
Best striker:
• Girl – Lynn-Maré Visser
• Boy – Marko Lombaard
