These 3 Gold Reef Rhythmic Gymnastics Club gymnasts had a great 2024

The gymnasts, who train in Berario, received their colours after participating at the Senior African Champs.

For three Gold Reef Rhythmic Gymnastics Club gymnasts, 2024 proved to be a year of great national success. It saw Jeanne-Marié Kitshoff, Kristen Hannie, and Wothabo Nene awarded their Protea Colours.

Early last year, the trio, who train in Berario, participated in trials for the African Championships, for which they all qualified. They then represented the country in Kigali, Rwanda where they competed in the 18th Junior and Senior African Championships. There, they each did very well, with Jeanne-Marié coming fourth and Kristen coming seventh in the junior Olympic section, and Wothabo coming 11th in the senior Olympic section. Both the junior and senior SA teams came second overall, receiving their silver medals.

Following their stellar participation, they received their Protea Colours, awarded to them at the Central Gauteng Gymnastics Association awards ceremony held late last year. They also received trophies for international selection and were invited to the Gauteng Gymnastics Associations Award Ceremony.

Their coaches, Aimee and Maureen van Rooyen, are very proud of the gymnasts.
