Please support your FWC Hospice by buying a ribbon
By selling ribbons for R10, FWC Hospice hopes to raise much needed funds.
World Hospice and Palliative Care Day is marked on October, 8 and FWC Hospice in Hurshtill is selling ribbons to raise much-needed funds for the families they support.
“The ribbons will show support for a unified day of action that celebrates ‘healing hearts and communities’ by the wearers,” said FWC hospice general manager Berni Gaffney.

“The last few years have been grief-filled for families, friends, and colleagues. There are billions of walking wounded that seek closure from their loss. In some way, we are all grieving. The experience of grief and the need to heal unites humans with more than six million deaths worldwide during the COVID-19 pandemic There are those that are facing life-limiting diagnoses, and there are those that are grieving both literal and emotional stress of taking care of their loved ones when this time comes.”

Funds raised will go toward caring for adults who turn to them for support and care as they journey toward the end of life, and to the families that their patients mean so much to.
Gaffney explained, “FWC Hospice is an adult palliative care facility based in Hursthill nursing those with life-limiting illnesses and supporting families that desire dignity, care and serenity for their loved ones when they have been diagnosed with terminal illnesses. [It is for adults] who need that extra mile in taking the burden off those who just don’t have the resources to take care of mum or dad day-to-day because they themselves are struggling to take care of the family unit and provide a calm home life for all.”
They are hoping that corporates, schools, churches and individuals will partner with them by purchasing a ribbon to be worn on the right wrist, or if someone has a ribbon they’d prefer to use, by donating the cost of a ribbon.
