A man believed to be in his 20s found dead in Westdene public park
He was found hanging from a tree and police opened an inquest.
A man was found dead in Westdene and police suspect no foul play.
Sophiatown Police Station spokesperson Captain TJ de Bruyn said, “The man believed to have been in his late 20s was found hanging from a tree.”
He noted that no signs of foul play or struggle were observed and an inquest will be opened to investigate further.
The police were alerted to the discovery after the security guard at the Eeufees Oord old age home called them for assistance.

A member of the public who asked not to be identified said she thought the man might have been homeless based on his appearance, although she did not look closely. A man she assumes was a friend of the deceased was visibly distressed and upset at the scene, she says.
