Hursthill Reservoir closed following major pipe burst in Auckland Park
There is currently no estimated time of completion but water tanks have been requested for the areas.
Johannesburg Water has alerted the community of a water outage that currently affecting Auckland Park at Corner Plantation and Kingsway Road.
In a released statement, the utility said, “…the team will close water in order to work on the burst pipe. Due to the nature of the pipe size of 300mm diameter, Hursthill Reservoir will be closed in order to execute this work.

The following areas are currently without water:
- Melville,
- Richmond,
- Westcliff, Parktown,
- Emmarentia,
- Greenside.
The estimated time of restoration is unknown at this stage, “…further updates will be given when the water is completely off from the pipe system and assessment done,” Johannesburg Water said.
Water tanks have been requested for Main Road and 7th Street corner 3rd Avenue in Melville.
