Showcasing and celebrating different cultures through fashion and games
It is important to learn about our cultures and be proud of where we come from – by doing so, we can celebrate diversity and promote understanding and respect for different backgrounds and traditions.
Culture is a significant part of everyone’s identity. Northcliff High School hosted a fun day at their school to celebrate different cultures and countries. Learners dressed up in various outfits to represent the country of their choice.
Everyone participated in fun games; there was live entertainment, music, and a variety of food stalls. The event was a great opportunity for learners to learn about the cultures and traditions of people around the world. It also helped promote diversity and inclusivity within the school community.

“It’s a good event for learners because they get to have fun and make friends. Every year we come up with different themes and this year’s theme was countries of the world,” said Walter Essex-Clark, Northcliff High School principal.

Learners displayed their talents by creating colourful outfits from their favourite countries and this also provided the opportunity for them to express their individuality through fashion.
“This is great for us as learners because we get to have fun and get a break from school,” said Kutlwano Mokeko.

“By sharing our community’s cultural heritage, we can learn from one another and appreciate the diversity that makes our world so unique and beautiful.”
