Settle the wind with the Historic documentary Film Society
The society will mark the 85th anniversary of Gone with the Wind with the screening of The Making of a Legend: Gone With The Wind.
In celebration of it the 85th Anniversary of the release of Gone With The Wind, The Historic Documentary Film Society is proud to screen the documentary, The Making of a Legend: Gone With The Wind narrated by Christopher Plummer.

Co-founder of the society, Selwyn Klass, explained the the film was based on Margaret Mitchell’s international best-seller, winner of the prestigious Pulitzer Prize, honoured with a near record of ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture, “Gone With The Wind is still unsurpassed for its sheer sweeping spectacle, timeless audience appeal and unforgettable performances, evocative of an era when ‘Stars Were Legends’,” said Klass.
The film sees Academy Award winner Vivien Leigh as the feisty Scarlett O’Hara, Clark Gable as the equally headstrong Rhett Butler, Leslie Howard, Olivia de Havilland with Hattie McDaniel as Scarlett’s beloved ‘Mammy’, the first black artist to win an Academy Award in a Supporting role.

Set in the turbulent period of the American Civil War, the film is described by Klass as still ranking as one of cinema’s enduring classics. The Making of a Legend takes you behind the scenes in search of the most coveted role in cinema history.
