This talented sculptor, who creates his pieces by either using bronze or wire, thinks art has the pleasure of making our lives more bearable. The first art piece this Zambian native ever created was a drawing of a dolphin on a blackboard, but it was while attending school in Johannesburg, that he allowed himself to explore his creative talents.

By 1987 he decided to give sculpting his full-time attention, and through the years he has allowed his audience to take a peek into his mind’s eye, seeing as he creates art that marries European and African artistic styles. His work is described as being a dramatic, sensitive, and abstract representation of real life subjects. These pieces, which start off as just an idea, have found themselves commissioned by the likes of the SABC Victor Awards, SABS Sports Awards, as well as journalists awards, to name a few.

Thixton said he is currently working on a series of ink illustrations. These are normally done before he starts a wire piece. “I started to enjoy the illustration part of it and got carried away.”
