Eddie and Hazel de Vos from the Firlands Children’s Home in Linden write;

The Salvation Army Firlands Children’s Home is extremely grateful to the local community for the tremendous support they gave to our annual fête on 30 August.

The Firlands Fête is our main fundraiser and its success is vital to keeping the home operational and able to care for the up to 60 children that are placed into the home’s care.

Firlands could not survive were it not for the continued loyal support of the local community both of the fête and with goods of every kind and financial support. The first priority is to ensure that any donation first be used for the benefit of the children in our care. If we are not able to use donations for the children, only then will they be set aside for our annual fête. Hence every donation given to Firlands has gone for good.

The success of the fête is due to the army of volunteers which includes the various Rotary, Round Table and Lions clubs who help man the stalls; the Linden Police, ADT Security, Securitas, Springbok Fidelity and Fareed Hoosen from the Linden Neighbourhood Watch who ensure your safety and security.

Once again thank you to everyone who attended the fête. We trust your support was rewarded by you being able to obtain a bargain or two. We look forward to your continued support of our children and home. See you at next year’s Firlands Fête on the last Saturday of August.
