Jacarandas welcome Linden runners

LINDEN – It is set to be another great running event as Linden Runner gets ready for its annual Jacaranda Run.

Come November 13, members of Linden Runner will run the Jacaranda-lined streets of our various communities as it hosts its annual Jacaranda Run.

As this is a community event, residents were asked to vote for their favourite Jacaranda streets in Linden, Greenside and Roosevelt Park to be included in this route.

“With the Jacaranda Run, we want to showcase our incredibly beautiful neighbourhood, the friendly community of Linden and just for runners to have fun with their friends. Of course, photo opportunities are around every corner, and it will be the most sought after race photo from your 2021 running season,” said Estie van Heerden, chairperson of the Linden Runner Athletic Club.

She continued to add that Linden Runner is a family-focused running club, and is particularly focused on encouraging young kids and their parents to join their shorter distances as a fun family activity.

On the day, the run will start and finish at Linden Bowling Club, which is their running club base, and what she thinks is Linden’s hidden gem. “We do encourage everyone to stay after the race and just enjoy the view and hospitality,” she said.

She concluded to urge the community of Linden to line their streets on the day from 06:00 in support of the runners who have been deprived of formal running events this past year due to Covid-19 restrictions. “Let’s show everyone why it’s best to live, run and train in Linden!”
