Alternative Rock comes to Cresta
CRESTA - Eighties and Nineties Rock and Contemporary Alternative play at The Barnyard. Vocalist David Beretta Owens tells more.
Alternative rock music gets a burst of energy on the live music scene with Hey Now Hey, Now Now! happening at Barnyard theatres this month. The show presents eighties rock and contemporary alternative in a mix of old and new by some of South Africa's best rock performers.
Vocalist and guitarist David Beretta Owens is excited to be a part of the production.
“We have all been working very hard and the whole show will be one big highlight.We're playing a lot of the songs we grew up with in the eighties and nineties, some of these songs I hadn't even thought of in fifteen, twenty years,” said the Northcliff resident. “So it will be a nostalgic trip for people who were into that scene and it will help expose the old stuff to a new crowd.”
The show features music from My Chemical Romance, The White Stripes, Radiohead, The Sisters of Mercy, Violet Femmes, Depeche Mode and more.
“It's a good opportunity for the alternative rock genre to get out there because it doesn't usually get a chance in our area. Plus it will bring a different clientele to the Barnyard so it is beneficial for all involved.”
