Catch up with accomplished actress Ilse Klink
AUCKLAND PARK – The neighbourhood's movie star.
Local actress Ilse Klink stars in the recently released movie Stroomop and she shared some of the hardships her character, Dione, faces.
The country’s latest local movie Stroomop released on 9 August and it features a very important resident and actress of Auckland Park, Ilse Klink.
This is a movie that tells the story of five women who are victims of life’s rough waters as they find themselves drowning in their careers and personal relationships.
According to Klink, “Diona is a career driven character who neglects time spent with family for the passion of her career as a lawyer. She tries to control the life of her daughter, by forcing her to go into a career she does not want to.”
Klink went on to add that her character does love her family but as they watch the movie the audience will realise her family wants the one thing she can’t provide them with, her time.

Stroomop was filmed on the Orange River in the Northern Cape.
What most would see as a scenic holiday destination became the backdrop for some incredibly tough acting for those on set, including Klink.
She recounted her most challenging scene to act out in the movie. “The hardest scene to do in the movie was when I had to swim across the Orange River about 5 times, then run up a hill of beach sand at speed, get to the top, and then do a really emotional scene.”
Regardless of the hard work she had to put in, she enjoyed being on set with her 4 co-stars. She stated that every one of them brought something special to every scene.

The experienced actress Klink shared some advice to young girls dreaming to be on the big screen one day. “Study the craft of acting, at a reputable institution, first of all. This business means you need to work at your craft, long hours, preparation, professionalism, dedication is what is needed.”
She also advised that fame doesn’t guarantee a long career and therefore the harder you work, the longer you will last in the industry.
Klink urges the public to go watch this movie.
“This movie is full of adventure on river and land, in the desert and an encounter with dangerous wildlife. The journey, the women go on, internally and externally is very exciting to watch.”
Stoomop is currently showing in movie theatres nationwide.
