Highlanders roll out welcome for former rugby players

Former rugby players and officials reunited for a trip down memory lane.

The Newcastle Highlanders hosted a special reunion at the club on Saturday, August 29, bringing together former players and officials from both Yskor and Newcastle Rugby Club.

Self proclaimed ‘rugby legends’: Andrè ‘Swanie’ Swanepoel, Jan Erasmus, Matras and Huyser Koch.

Old teammates reconnect

Highlanders head coach and former player Andre ‘Swanie’ Swanepoel said around 60 former players attended the event, enjoying familiar company, lamb roasted on the spit and reliving their old rugby memories.

“Thank you to everyone who was part of such a special day,” he concluded.
