Sunette does Dundee SAPS proud in the Midmar Mile

Landing in an impressive threehundredth
position, Sunette
Koekemoer did Dundee proud in
the infamous Midmar Mile.
Sunette beamed with pride over
her impressive time of 36 minutes
and 41 seconds. She claimed the
reason behind partaking in this
event was a personal challenge
put forth for herself, though the
challenge alone did not spur her
into action: gruelling training and
extensive motivation from her
close friend Linda du Plessis did.
Linda, ‘the driving force behind
my achievement’, inspired and
motivated Sunette constantly.
This motivation, according to
Sunette, enabled her to rise against
all odds and landed her the threehundredth
position, one that is a
meritorious achievement.
Upon looking back, Sunette
claimed that she was faced with
many challenges but never let them
deter her. She just moved forward,
and she hopes to encourage others
to do the same: “Put your mind to
something and carry it out!”
Sunette recalled the nervousness
and overwhelming butterfl ies that
she faced before her body was
submerged in the cool Midmar
Dam water, and cannot wait to
face the butterfl ies again in next
year’s event.
