VRYHEID High played against Empangeni on Saturday, March 8.

Judging by the results, the hockey boys have great teams this year. The girls’ hockey is also doing well. The netball girls, especially the u/14A team, will be a force to be reckoned with.

The rugby boys are also playing well, with all their matches won. It is safe to predict a very interesting season.

Netball: u/14A 19-8; u/14B 12-3; u/15A 8-14; u/15B 5-7; u/16A 10-8 and u/16B 8-7. 2nd 3-11 and 1st 10-24. Rugby: u/14A 15-12; u/15A 7-5 and u/16A 5-7. 2nd 5-5 and 1st 16-12. Girls’ hockey: u/16A 4-1 and u/14A 0-1. 2nd 0-1 and 1st 1-2. Boys’ hockey: 1st 5-0; 2nd 2-0 and 3rd 4-0.

Warning: Last week’s serious accident here at corner of Church and Republic streets, where two NRS learners were knocked down by oncoming traffic, must serve as a lesson to all learners: obey the traffic rules and remember any vehicle travelling at whatever speed, is bigger and stronger than you!

Be careful, it’s better than sorry!
