Blood stocks of 1,7 days have the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) in crisis mode.
The SANBS has issued an urgent plea for blood donors, in light of the pending holiday season, during which many residents embark on travels to holiday destinations.
In the words of SANBS spokeswoman, Shavani Sewpaul, the organisation is desperate for assistance.
To donate blood, a person must weigh more than 50 kilogrammes, must be between the ages of 16 and 65 years of age, must lead a sexually safe lifestyle, and must have eaten before donating.
“Don’t wait – donate,” Ms Sewpaul concluded.
