Drug stash confiscated by K9 police

An intelligence driven operation between Ladysmith Crime Intelligence, Public Safety and the Ladysmith K9 unit was conducted in the Ladysmith Taxi rank on Tuesday, March 25.

The operation yielded the recovery of a small drug stash. It is alleged that a drug pedlar would keep drugs as well as cash in a small bag at a container in the rank.

He would conduct a deal in the area and when the need arose he would return to the container to refill his pockets. The drug pedlar has allegedly fled the area but police are hot on his trail.

The recovery comprised19 mandrax tablets and 82 straws of whoonga (heroin). The street value is estimated to be approximately R3600. A small amount of cash, suspected to be proceeds of crime, was also found and seized.
