Poachers hack off Rhinos horns

Three white rhinos were found dead at Spieonkop Game Reserve near Ladysmith on Wednesday. The heart rending discovery was clearly a poaching incident as all three horns had been maliciously removed.

Ezemvelo spokesperson, Musa Mntambo said, “We suspect that they were darted as we could not identify any bullet holes.” It is believed that the animals were killed on Sunday.

It is not known whether the animals were still alive when their horns were hacked off.
No arrests have been made in connection with this incident. Within KwaZulu Natal this year alone, there have been 19 rhinos poached and 18 arrests have been made.
