More than 100 people benefited from a fundraiser organised by the Methodist Church Caring Committee.
A baby competition and Mad Hatter’s Tea Party was held recently and the money raised from it was used to purchase samp, beans and mealie meal for food parcels.
On Thursday morning 110 people received the food parcels.
One of the committee members said that they had noticed an increase in the number of men who arrived to receive a food parcel, she remarked that this was an indication of the high unemployment rate in the area.
The recipients were grateful and many hearty thank you’s were uttered.
