New evidence links murder accused to Newcastle

Exclusive documentation received by this newspaper proves international murder accused, Senthill Arumugam lived in Newcastle.

Obtained from a confidential source on Monday, it was proved:

1. Mr Arumugam was employed on a contractual basis in Newcastle as an instrumentation engineer.

2. He carries an Indian passport and is an Indian national.

3. His three-year contract was due to end on September 12 this year, and he was due back at work on March 26, following a flight to Australia on March 21.

4. Mr Arumugam listed his address of residence was Rider Haggard Avenue, Pioneer Park.

5. He was invited to travel to Brisbane by slain Singaporean student, Meenatchi Narayanan, whom he stands accused of killing in a hotel room on March 25.

6. Mr Arumugam’s first Visa application was unsuccessful, but was approved the second time around.

7. His travel to Australia was arranged from Newcastle.

8. A local employee remembers Mr Arumugam as a normal person, only displaying agitation after his Visa was declined. He was also described as organised, seeking all documentation in one place.

Mr Arumugam was arrested in the said Brisbane hotel room on March 25, after hotel staff and guests reported hearing screams from the room, and saw blood under the door.

He was said to have been found alongside Ms Narayanan’s body.

National media reported they could not find anything linking Mr Arumugam to Newcastle or KwaZulu-Natal and labelled him a ghost, although this new evidence disproves the theory.

Mr Arumugam will appear in an Australian court on May 5 on the murder charge.
