Michaelis has a great sporting week

ON Wednesday, April 23, our senior girls played a match against Lucas Meyer’s 2nd team. Congratulations to LMS who won the match 1 – 0. We would like to thank Pionier for the use of their field.

Boys Hockey Trials: The Boys District Hockey Trials took place on Thursday last week. Our boys played very well and we would like to congratulate the following children for making the team: Jaco Keeve; Reece Argent; Yusuf Khan; Hector Hughes; Dian Mengel and Lama Mazibuko. Nhlangano Zulu and Sheldon Hellberg were chosen as non-travelling reserves. Congratulations to all of you, you did us proud!

Junior Girls’ Hockey Tournament: Lucas Meyer hosted their annual Mini Hockey Tournament on Thursday, April 24. As always, it was a well organised and enjoyable afternoon. Our little girls were filled with excitement as well as a dash of trepidation, as these were to be their first matches of the season, and for the little Grade 1s, their first matches ever!

The under 7s played against Piet Retief A, Dundee and Lucas Meyer B. They lost their first match, drew the second and won the last! The Under 8 team played against Pongola, Piet Retief B and Dundee, but unfortunately lost all their matches by a point or two. We look forward to watching them grow and improve this season.

The Under 9s played like little stars and as a result they won all their matches. They played against Piet Retief A, Dundee and Pongola. Well done to all the little girls. Now that the ice has been broken we look forward to watching a lot of exciting matches this season. Many thanks to Lucas Meyer for hosting this lovely tournament and including us. We look forward to joining in again next year.
