Card cloners on the prowl
In both incidents the women were approached by people who insisted on ‘helping’.
Bank card crooks are out in full force – so beware and do not let anyone handle your ATM card.
The Courier has received two reports over the last week of two women who were swindled out of R2 000 and R3 000 respectively, in separate incidents at the Boulevard Centre.
In both incidents the women were approached by people who insisted on ‘helping’.
An elderly woman had R2 000 withdrawn from her bank account at another ATM in town 20 minutes after she had been ‘helped’ by two white women. Her card must have been cloned during the time they handled the bank card.
On Monday a woman had R3 000 withdrawn from her account after being ‘helped’ by an Indian man at the Standard Bank ATM in the
Boulevard Centre. She also believes her card was somehow cloned during the time she
was approached by the man.
