Dundee High’s fairytale ending against Ladysmith
The celebration continued the next day at the Dundee High vs Ladysmith High winter sports day.
DHS reunion
DHS celebrated its 130-year reunion this weekend. On Friday, May 16 a vibrant and warm atmosphere, not to mention the delicious aroma of steak sizzling on the braai, drifted out of DHS as old scholars arrived to celebrate their reunion. Thank you to all who supported this evening and made it a night to add to good school memories. The celebration continued the next day at the Dundee High vs Ladysmith High winter sports day.
DHS vs LHS
Another exciting sports day was hosted by DHS on Saturday, May 17. A special thank you to all the old scholars, parents and learners that were there to support the athletes and contribute to a successful day. Thank you also to all the staff, coaches, referees and teams that worked hard to bring their best to their matches.
Rugby: Hoërskool Dundee se O/14 rugbyspan het ondanks dapper pogings die onderspit teen Ladysmith gedelf 5-0.
Dundee High’s U/15 rugby team missed out on golden opportunities and couldn’t convert these into points. Hoërskool Dundee se senior spanne het skitterend op die dag gevaar en die O/16-rugbyspan het Ladysmith met 16 punte teenoor 10 afgeransel. This team shows lots of promise for the future.
Dundee High’s second rugby team also managed to pip the opposition with a score line of 22 points to 10, thanks to some splendid creativity in the backline. Uiteindelik het die eerstespanne teenmekaar te staan gekom, waar Dundee, vir die oorgrote deel van die wedstryd die oorhand gehad het. DHS managed to produce three well-worked tries and eventually went on to win the match 23-20. Die oud-skoliere en toeskouers het opgetrek in hul honderde om te kom ondersteun en daar was ‘n groot gedruis van geraas nadat die laaste doelskop deur die pale gejaag is. Dundee High’s first team remains unbeaten in the Northern Natal League.
Hockey
Girls: The U/14s drew 0-0 after a tough match; U/16B team unfortunately lost 2-1; and the U/16As claimed a victory of 2-1. The second team had an unsuccessful day, losing 2-0, but the first team played well, drawing 1-1.
Boys: The second team had a brilliant day on the field, winning 3-0, but the first team match was a 0-0 draw.
Chess: It was a tough mental battle for the chess team, which lost to LHS.
