The rugby season has ended on a fantastic note on Saturday’s Derby Day when the first rugby team of Newcastle High School beat Ferrum 26 – 24.

The boys did extremely well during the season. They also played in the final of the 7s tournament in Dundee earlier this year.

While the team was on tour in Durban, they were undefeated with an average of four tries per game. Mondli Jakuja received the award for the best player in the outside centre position.

In total, the boys won eight of their eleven matches this year, scoring an impressive 45 tries during the season.

On behalf of the first team coaches, Mr. G. de Jager and Mr. J. Schoeman, the school wants to express its immense thanks to the boys for their hard work and effort. NHS is extremely proud of you!
