ZAKHELE Nkosi, 35, of Paulpietersburg, was convicted of murder by the High Court in Pietermaritzburg on Thursday.
Nkosi told the court that he stabbed his lover, Sibongile Nzama, on the night of April 29, after an argument about money.
After committing this crime, he fled the scene, but returned three days later.
Nkosi cut off her legs and threw them into a neighbour’s pit toilet. He wrapped her body in plastic and hid it under a bed.
He later confessed the crime to his mother and brother, after which Nkosi’s mother urged him to turn himself in.
Five days after the murder, he revealed the whereabouts of his deceased girlfriend’s remains to the police.
Sentencing arguments would be heard on Friday.
