Michaelis Schule – Dancing stars reap rewards

ON THE weekend of June 6, two of our pupils, Megan de Beer and Leah Vonkeman competed in the annual SADI (South African Dancing Institute) competition held in Pretoria. Leah danced a Modern Solo and was awarded a silver as well as a “special award”. She also danced a Group Modern and the team received a silver.
Megan danced in three group dances as well as a Hip Hop and Modern Jazz Solo.
She was awarded a silver for her Modern and a gold for her Hip Hop Solo. She also achieved a “special award” for her Hip Hop. Her group dances got a gold and a “special award” as well as two silvers.
A “special award” is given to a student or group when the judges see something special in their dance.
Megan has been scouted by two judges who came from New Zealand, to join them in 2015 at the Neverland Studio, where she will attend a four hour dance class per day. Congratulations girls, you have done exceptionally well and worked very hard, we are proud of you!
