Vryheid Rugby Club – Focus and dedication will separate the men from the boys in the home stretch

ON SATURDAY, June 21, Vryheid Rugby Club travelled to Dundee, where the first team took on Dundee Sentraal on their home ground.
In order for the team to secure their spot in the playoffs in Durban, a win was needed. And once again, our boys delivered.
The first team struggled in the first half of the game, but came back victorious in the second half after a morale boosting half time talk from the coaches.
After a somewhat dismal looking first half, they managed to score 40 points in the second half, leading them to a convincing defeat over Dundee of 52 – 5 at the final whistle.
The second team took on Ladysmith’s first team.
According to Head Coach, Rich Verster, the guys showed guts on the field, and played and defended well, but in the end were let down by structure.
Many players were unable to play due to injuries, leaving players who were not present at all the training sessions to knuckle down and tackle the task at hand. The second team were eventually outplayed and lost 66 – 0 to Ladysmith’s first team.
The first team will take part in the playoffs in Durban against premiere division sides, where the second team will accompany them as support, and therefore need to ensure that they focus on training from here on out. Friday night, June 27, will see Vryheid Rugby Club facing Newcastle at Cecil Emmett grounds, where a win will secure a home semi-final for Vryheid. The second team kicks off at 6:30pm and the first team will kick off at 8:00pm. The teams need all the home support they can get, as well as focus and dedication.
It’s been a gruelling season, stretching the players to their limits physically, but the home stretch is in sight and this is where the men are separated from the boys.
