If you are a boarder at Treverton Prep, there is very little time to mope, feel lonely and let alone be homesick.
During the week, there is the usual school routine, afternoon sport, the library, computer room and countless campus activities, or just chilling and bonding with your friends in the boarding house.
Over the weekend, there are numerous organised activities for the boarders.
During a recent sunny weekend, the girls enjoyed a picnic at the college dam and some were even brave enough to dip their feet into the chilly water.
Meanwhile the boys took advantage of the clear winter skies, when Deputy Headmaster Marc Schulze brought out his telescope, and introduced the boarding house boys to “stargazing”.
For all of them it was an unforgettable experience and one of the advantages of living in an area where there is minimal light pollution.
The Prep caters for a total of 60 boarders (30 girls and 30 boys) from grade one to seven.
The boys are housed in Burdett House and the girls in a series of inter-leading chalets. Accommodation is usually two learners to a room.
The Deputy Headmaster Marc Schulze is in charge of the school’s boarding establishments.
