Glendale Primary School is a small school situated on the D96, 15 kilometres from Newcastle.
The school is a shining example among schools in rural areas, and a beacon of hope.
Although the school may not have classrooms for each grade, the people in the area are extremely grateful for its existence.
In a building no larger than the average home, teachers conduct lessons to 30 pupils from Pre-school up to Grade 7.
Prompted by a directive, the school was identified by members of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) to donate school uniforms to the pupils.
“We want to help out, and encourage the children to study hard, by giving them this, we are creating uniformity in the school, and the children feel they should make sure they go to school,” said ANCYL event co-coordinator, George Mxolisi.
Aside from the donation of the uniforms, some pupils who could not afford quality pairs of shoes or other requirements, received these items from the ANCYL.
Both the school’s governing body and teaching staff thanked the ANCYL for the generous donation.
