Protesters still blocking roads in Steadville

This week has seen one of the most disruptive taxi strikes in the area in recent history

Steadville protesters say they will not move rocks off the roads until something is done about the taxi fare increase.

This week has seen one of the most disruptive taxi strikes in Ladysmith in recent history, which started out as a rumour and has turned into chaos. Residents who are not part of the strike are pleading with the Klipriver Taxi Association to come up with solutions as soon as possible, as they are having difficulty moving around the township.

Residents are scared to even walk around Steadville, as the atmosphere is very tense.

“I can’t even get to work on time,” complained one resident.
