Meet the new faces on the Executive Endumeni Youth Council, who were elected during the annual Youth Summit held at the Glenridge Hall on June 26.
The position of Chairperson was handed to Siyanda Hadebe. Deputy Chairperson is Gift Zondi, Secretary Thandolwakhe Mbatha, Deputy Secretary Andile Mabaso, and Treasurer Lungi Hadebe. Five other members will also serve on the council.
During the summit inspirational speeches were rendered by Mayor Mahaye, who highlighted the important role the Endumeni Youth Council plays in the development of our town.
Speaker SB Mdluli also wowed the crowd with his speech. He spoke about many issues, including youth responsibility, accountability and the importance of further education and training. He also highlighted the fact that the youth of today are the ‘generation of innovation, not amatoho (temporary work)’. Hence, he encouraged skills development and youth activism in order to avoid having only temporary work, and ‘pave the way to a bright future’.
